Drumming Down the Stress

This short video shows my beloved 10th year Autistic class learning a five beat rhythm. Give a high 5 for their humble beginnings!

Beat the Odds

Beat the Odds integrates activities from group drumming and group counseling to build social - emotional strengths such as focus and listening (a constant theme throughout the program), team building positive risk taking, self esteem, awareness of others, leadership, expressing feelings, managing anger/stress, empathy and gratitude.
UCLA researchers have shown the Beat the Odds can significantly reduce a spectrum of behavior problems in children, such as behaviors related to inattention, withdrawal, depression, post traumatic stress, anxiety, attention deficit/hyperactivity, oppositional defiance, and sluggish cognitive tempo. Excerpted from the evidence-based curriculum, Beat the Odds(tm): Social and Emotional Skill Building Delivered in a Framework of Drumming, published by Arts and Healing Initiative.
Beat the Odds emphasizes process not performance. Creative expression that embraces mistakes of perfection or mastery, reduces self-judgement and performance anxiety. Drumming is a universal activity that is a part of every culture. So, it is equally enjoyed by boys and girls.
Basically, Beat the Odds program is set up for 8 weekly sessions of 45 minutes, for an entire classroom.
Cheryl's Magic Flute is offering this program for one to one and for small groups of up to 4 students,  combined with Live Therapeutic Music, Sound & Color Therapy.

These corporate employees are for the first time in their life, participating with Health Rhythms Empowerment Drumming for team building and stress reduction on the job site.  A group of co workers today can let go of excess anxiety and gain  the benefits found in the casual playing of the  Health Rhythms protocols. According to Dr. Barry Bittman, neurologist, M.D., author and researcher, for this protocol, found that one of the outcomes of the research showed that immunity is enhanced when people are engaged in this activity. Even cortisol, the stress hormone was reduced! This is a creative solution for reversing the classic stress response!!!  According to the following studies:
